Friends You Haven’t Met Yet

When we are just starting out in any endeavor, things can be a little more uncomfortable than we would prefer. We’re a bit like hatchlings: wobbly, alone, uncertain, and blinking at the world around us. As adults, with our filters of the way things should or should not be for us, learning the ropes of something new can some times take us out of the game completely. We set ourselves up for failure when, in fact, everything is right on track. Building your network or direct marketing business requires learning and growing in ways that you may not have expected when you first joined your company. This can be truly frightening for some people.

Things don’t have to be perfect. Six steps forward and five back still means you’ve taken that crucial step forward. As a friend reminded me recently, we are mortal, and being mortal means having doubts, questions, and fears. We all have the same basic needs and fears, yet so many of us tend to forget that fact. And in today’s society very few people take the time to strike up a conversation with someone they don’t know. I do, however, and my husband insists that I’ve never met a stranger. In my world, strangers are generally just friends I haven’t met yet.
